Two years after the release of Another One, Mac DeMarco has announced a new studio album to be released in May. To build up hipe for what many fans would call a “big deal” and what he would call This Old Dog, the Montreal native dropped two new tracks a few days ago.

Because of all of this excitement in the life of lead voice of the garage pop/jizz-jazz/lo-fi sound, I thought it would be a good idea to make a sample of recent Mac DeMarco songs from the past two studio albums as well as a selection from his new album. The new material focuses on acoustic rather than effects-heavy guitars for a much more stripped-down sound that still is very familiar. He did make a live acoustic album in the past, but this is quite different from the very produced Mac DeMarco sound we have grown to love. Hopefully, this sampler will show you what I’m talking about.
