While it may be hard to believe that the two red-blooded American males who contribute to this blog are familiar with the musical stylings of acoustic guitar outfit Rodrigo y Gabriela, the duo actually was a symbol of our one of our more memorable high school teachers.
Upon first hearing this band, I was first surprised at their amazing technical ability, blending flat-picking and flamenco styles effortlessly. But I didn’t think much of it. How could you listen to the same music as a person who knows exactly how poorly you grasp the Spanish language? Upon further research and learning about how their songs, although steeped in a Spanish guitar framework, were actually heavily influenced on metal like Metallica and Dimebag Derrell, I realized that this was definitely a group to listen to. You all should do the same.
